IPAT Acquires Hilson Research

SAVOY, Ill. and NEW YORK, April 4, 2007 – The Institute for Personality and Ability Testing, Inc. (IPAT), a prominent publisher of personality and ability assessments and interpretive reports, has acquired Hilson Research, Inc., one of the nation's leading publishers of psychological tests for protective services and public safety applications.

Founded in 1980 by Robin Inwald, Ph.D., Hilson Research is a respected assessment publisher that is best known for tests used with high-risk occupations such as police and security personnel. In the protective services and public safety industries, Hilson is one of the leading assessment brands for pre-employment screening and promotional and fitness for duty evaluations. In addition to these areas, Hilson also has instruments that are appropriate for use in the business sector for selection, placement, and management development. Hilson's flagship assessments include the Inwald Personality Inventory, the Hilson Personnel Profile/Success Quotient, the Inwald Survey 5-Revised and the Hilson Background Investigation Inventory-Revised.

Together, the two firms create a significant entity in the psychological testing and services marketplace, distributing valid and reliable assessments in the public safety, security, human resources, clinical/counseling and educational/vocational markets.

"Hilson products are well known and respected in the marketplace and form a highly complementary fit with our own suite of assessment products and services," said Dr. John W. Jones, president, IPAT. "Hilson founder and director, Dr. Robin Inwald, has written much of the industry knowledge when it comes to screening and selection assessments in the public safety, corrections, law enforcement and homeland security markets. We're fortunate to be able to bring our two brands together for the benefit of our mutual clients."

"After reviewing other test providers, IPAT emerged as the obvious choice to continue the promotion and delivery of Hilson tests," said Robin Inwald, Ph.D., founder of Hilson Research, Inc. "IPAT's parent company, OPP Ltd., is a global provider of psychology-based services to organizations, and has a strong history in the distribution of psychometrically-sound assessment tools and related consulting services. IPAT is technically advanced and shares Hilson's customer-oriented values. I am confident that IPAT will continue to treat Hilson customers as significant professional partners."

Over the next few months, IPAT will begin integrating the two companies' service offerings. "Our integration goal is to go beyond 'business as usual' to create a combined organization where 'business better than usual' is the watchword for all of our customers and employees," said Dr. Jones.

Established in 1949 by Dr. Raymond B. Cattell, prominent psychologist and researcher at the University of Illinois, IPAT is a leading provider of certification training, psychological assessments (including the 16PF® Questionnaire), and tailored assessment solutions that are used worldwide by psychologists, consultants, counselors and qualified HR professionals.
